This track Focus Saudi Arabia’s wastewater treatment infrastructure and the key challenges it faces, the opportunities available for innovation and investment. In light of the Kingdom’s arid climate and increasing water demand, maximizing water reuse and ensuring efficient wastewater treatment have become strategic priorities.

 

At the center of this track is the role of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in expanding and upgrading wastewater treatment systems to meet the urban, industrial, and agricultural demands across the Kingdom. The track emphasizes resource recovery and safe reuse as a core element in Saudi Arabia’s water strategy.

 

Several critical issues are addressed, including aging infrastructure, sludge management, and the need to meet strict water quality standards. Challenges such as effective sludge disposal, nutrient recovery, and ensuring treated effluent complies with environmental regulations call for immediate improvements to support a robust and resilient treatment system.
